Conversations with the Moon – New Moon in Taurus May 4 2019
The moon has been chatty with me all week, especially during dream-time, stirring up what’s lingering in my dark places deep in my subconscious. Her message loud and clear: all the good, joyful, wonderful things in store for me (or you) will be found outside your comfort zone. Outside your comfort zone is where new outcomes, new ways, new beginnings, new experiences, and new perspectives are to be discovered. Inside your comfort zone, you will create more of the same as you have now…Here is the moon’s message:
I invite you to examine yourself, life, and goals in order to achieve an even greater level of balance. What lessons haven’t you learned? What old patterns of thought or behavior are still hanging around even after all the work you have done? Are you still judging yourself too harshly? Are you comparing yourself to others? Are you still focused on doing things you think you are supposed to be doing, or are you doing what brings you joy?
To know the answers, ask yourself where your hang-ups are or where you encounter frustration and upset – what still is not working for you? Or just pay attention to the times you are avoiding, making excuses, or some other self-sabotaging slight-of-hand that takes you away from what you want more of. Will you let it go or will you cling to the comfort of what feels safe and familiar? Will you continue to strive toward pleasing others or will you choose your own peace of mind and joy of heart? The choice is yours, the change comes by taking steps out of your comfort zone. There is nothing but more familiar false comfort for you by playing it safe. Go big, or go small…but go toward the joy.
Find what is good and focus on that, redirect yourself to what is good over and over again until you are not so distracted by the things that don’t feel good. The more you recycle the thoughts and feelings about what is not going well, the more disconnected you feel from joy and balance. This pattern creates a cycle, you break this cycle by starting fresh each day or each moment of the day by redirecting your thoughts and feelings. Remember that from time to time you will still experience unpleasant feelings and things will still happen in this physical world that you cannot control…your power and control lies within you. Shift your focus back to what is good, what you want MORE of over and over again until it becomes your default setting.
It may look something like this:
- Something happens you don’t enjoy, it brings you pain or uncomfortable feelings.
- Feel your feelings until they subside. Breathe until you feel neutral.
- Focus on what is good in your life, what brings joy to your heart – maybe a goal, a person, or a playful activity.
- Something else may happen that is unpleasant.
- Resist the urge to compound this experience with the others as best as you can while feeling your feelings and breathing until they subside. Feelings are valid but they are not necessarily your truth, unless you believe they are.
- Refocus on the good thing(s) again.
- Rinse and repeat as often as you have to until things begin to balance WITHIN you because life will always have ups and downs. This process will help you ride the waves…a little moon humor.
There may be times when things are too much or you feel like you are not able to do this: Do your best and be kind to yourself, you are better served by yourself when you act as your own best friend.
In my darkness lies your opportunity to begin fresh with new actions to take you deeper into your best self from wherever you are on your journey. Find joy and balance by having some fun with your endeavors. Keep riding the waves as playfully as you can and remember that this is only the beginning…
