Each month I will share with you a ‘Monthly Inspiration’ of all things that bring me joy. This may include music, books, quotes, a memory, a hero or muse… and I hope you’ll share what inspires you!
April’s inspiration is the song Titanium by David Guetta ft. Sia
I heard this song last week and it struck an emotional chord within me. I love this song, it has a sense of strength, courage, and survival that I relate to deeply. Last week when it played moments after getting into the car, the chord it struck was reminding me that all the deep release of old wounds from my past I’ve been processing during the past month or so as we are all coming into the newness of Spring by shedding old stuff are a part of my story.
Some of my past story is traumatic and painful and it doesn’t help me to relive it or stay connected to those emotions. All of my experiences, even the painful or unpleasant ones, have played a role in my being who I am. This song reminds me that I am a survivor, that no matter how many times I am knocked down I will never stay down.
The song Titanium activates my cellular memories in a way that connects me to my personal power and the most important part of my past story, aka the take-away or lesson from the pain of my past: I survive. I always have and always will. I survive so that I may thrive.
I’d love to hear from you what songs inspire you. Music can heal old wounds, especially when it activates an emotional response. When you experience this, just take it in and know that you are healing yourself because you + music = magic!
Here is an acoustic version of Titanium I love performed by Madilyn Bailey, in case you prefer a softer version:
